- Arbitrage
- Placing bets on all possible outcomes of an event across different bookmakers to guarantee a profit.
- Asian Handicap
- A split handicap that reduces the possible outcomes to two, often using quarter‑goal lines.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money set aside for betting, used to manage stakes and losses.
- Bookmaker Margin
- The built‑in profit margin for a bookmaker, expressed as the overround percentage of the odds.
- Cash Out
- The option to settle a bet before the event ends, either for a reduced payout or to cut a loss.
- Closing Line
- The final odds offered just before an event starts, used to evaluate the quality of a bet.
- Futures Bet
- A bet placed on the outcome of a tournament or award, usually long before the final result.
- Hedge
- Betting on the opposite outcome to an existing bet to reduce risk or lock in a profit.
- In-Play
- Another term for live betting, referring to odds offered during the game.
- Juice
- The commission or fee that a bookmaker charges on a bet, usually built into the odds.
- Lay Betting
- Betting that an outcome will not happen, typically offered on betting exchanges.
- Live Betting
- Placing bets on events while the match is in progress, with odds that update in real time.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win the match outright, with odds expressed as a positive or negative number.
- Odds
- The numerical expression of the likelihood of an outcome, also indicating the payout for a winning bet.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals in a match will be higher or lower than a set line.
- Parlay
- A single bet that links multiple selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Point Spread
- A handicap given to the favorite team to level the betting field, expressed as a number of goals or points.
- Prop Bet
- A wager on a specific event within a match, such as which player scores first.
- Rollover
- The total amount of bets that must be placed before a bonus becomes withdrawable, often expressed as a multiple of the bonus.
- Staking Plan
- A strategy that determines how much of your bankroll to wager on each bet.
- Steam Move
- A rapid shift in odds or line across multiple books, usually caused by heavy betting action.
- Value Bet
- A bet where the odds offered are higher than the true probability of the outcome, suggesting an edge.
- Wagering Requirement
- The number of times bonus funds must be bet before withdrawal is allowed.
